Spice Up an Old Outfit with Fun Socks

There is nothing new about this ensemble. I’ve had this skirt for nearly a decade. I’ve worn it again and again, almost always with a black or striped top. But I’m always looking for little ways to tweak the look in an attempt to keep it feeling new to me.

I was recently enticed to make a purchase by the Sock Candy branding in an Instagram ad (hashtag influenced). What can I say? I’m a sucker for stand-out branding. While I didn’t have a clue how I was going to style them, (and I had never really been into novelty socks), I knew I wanted them and specifically to see them with these Stuart Weitzman platform sandals.

As a petite person, I’m always prepared for something that creates a line around or just above my ankle to make me look stumpy. To my surprise, these looked properly dainty and much better than I had hoped. I don’t typically go for something so ultra feminine, but it’s just the right touch of sugar nestled inside of my usually monotone wardrobe.

I feel like these socks have transformed this look and made it quite different from any previous iteration. And the best part is they were just 18 bucks. It can be pretty simple to change things up. So, here are…

Three Ways to Tweak Your Wardrobe Staples

  1. Tights - Similar to these cute socks, tights can transform a look, whether with a standard black tight or a bold color or print.

  2. Jewelry - If you have a simpler outfit, go big with your accessories. I find myself admiring the layering prowess of Dylan Lex almost daily. Etsy has some great Dylan Lex dupes for affordable prices.

  3. Hair Accessories - The queen of hair accessories might be Blair Eadie from Atlantic-Pacific. Her headbands are gorgeous. But really, she could wear a potato sack on her head and I’d probably think it was SO FASHION.
