:Does This Work?:
Shopping My Closet to Try a New Look
From time to time, I’ll come across a look that sticks in my head. It’s usually when I see a style that sparks an idea for something I already have in my closet. When the pieces I have are similar, rather than the same, I always wonder to myself, does this work?
Here’s this week’s example. I’m really into the way white button ups are being styled with oversized knits (sweaters, vests, dickies). I’ll often see them combined with shorts or mini skirts and high boots, usually with lug soles. The roomier shape of the top is what I find most appealing. It adds a sort of chic effortlessness to the whole thing.

In an attempt to use what I have in my closet to recreate the look, I layered this more fitted knit vest (styled previously here) with the puffy sleeve blouse I purchased for my Moira Rose Halloween costume. (Please excuse the wrinkles. I didn’t have the time or frankly the desire to steam this :D)
My boots don’t have the lug sole but I feel like the Stuart Weitzman 5050s are a decent substitute.
While I like how this looks, I wish I had that looser fit for the top layer. I just think it would look more relaxed, comfortable and chic.
What do you think? Does this work?
