  1. THe NOrth Face Snow Pants/Coveralls

Stella has always had good, quality snow pants. So why wouldn’t I do the same thing for myself? The brand I have is The North Face. However, (and this will be a theme) I purchased mind via eBay. This is a great way to pick up quality, gently used, winter gear for a lot less than buying new. And for pieces that I will only wear a handful of times each year, I felt more comfortable with the used price.

  2. Nike Dri-Fit Tube Socks

I picked up a six-pack of these because an influencer told me to and I’ve got to say, I’ve never been so happy to be influenced. Wearing socks around the house has never been my thing. But these feel kind of like mini slippers. They’re thick, soft, affordable and they are the perfect base layer for my toes, which are always a problem spot when the temperatures dip below 75.

  3. SOREL Caribou Boots

First of all, Victoria Beckham was photographed in these boots so I’m obviously on board with anything she does. But the great thing is these boots are LEGIT. I’ve had this pair since 2017 and they’re almost like new. They’re super warm and waterproof, making me feel like I could walk through any amount of sloppy slush and remain unfazed.

  4. The North Face Down Jacket

When you find a brand you love, stick with it. That’s not to say other winter gear brands aren’t great. But this jacket was the first really good down jacket I purchased in my life and it was a total game changer. Again, I picked this up NWT (New With Tags) on eBay and have been toasty on top ever since. Just this year, I added the detachable hood so that I could be properly cocooned for my snowy walks with CJ. The hood tightens up nicely around my face for a fit that Pittsburgh winds cannot penetrate.

  5. The North Face Gloves

Fingers and toes, guys. Fingers and toes. If I cannot keep them warm then I will tap out. I picked up these gloves when we went to Colorado in 2018 because the temperatures had dipped more than we expected. I wanted something that was good and that wouldn’t get wet in the snow. These are awesome and keep my fingers warm and dry, even when I’m prepping snowballs.

  6. Fleece-Lined Leggings

Snow pants aren’t always necessary but warm legs are. I wanted something that was comfortable and utilitarian. These leggings are great because they are lined with a light fleece, which makes whipping winds much easier to tolerate, and they have a ton of pockets. Again, this is a great base layer under your snow pants for when you’re heading out into snow drifts.

  7. Something for your ears/head

This head band is from Eugenia Kim, which is a fantastic headwear brand that I have coveted for some time. I decided to make my move this year, but I didn’t want to pay full price (because full price is pretty high for this brand). So Poshmark to the rescue! There are a ton of Eugenia Kim pieces available there. I actually have my eye on one of her pom-pom hats. But in the meantime, I was blown away with how nice this piece is. It’s way warmer than my North Face hat, especially when it’s under the hood of my jacket. A perfect way to keep those ear tips safe from winter’s bite.

These pieces will set you well on your way to warmer and more pleasant winters. Each one is well worth the price of admission, especially if you live somewhere that drops below freezing on a regular basis. My friends Nicky and Julie have been talking about their favorite winter pieces for some time, and both have a much more robust winter wardrobe. If you’re looking for more ideas, check them out!
