Let’s get outta here.

Jan. 28 is National Plan for a Vacation Day! Whether the budget allows for a big trip abroad or simply an overnight staycation, I feel like it’s always worth having something on the books to look forward to.

This year more than most I am so. ready. to get outta here. I haven’t made a secret of our impending trip to Mexico next month. This year’s excursion is our Christmas gift to each other. We’re going to a new-to-us, adults-only resort in Riviera Maya, which has been our chosen region the last few times we’ve gone to Mexico. Each time we take this particular trip, we purposefully plan it for when Pittsburgh is submerged in the coldest depths of winter. It gives us the Vitamin D we are always craving so hard at this point in the year. And it’s the perfect way to break up the winter, making it much more bearable. By the time we get back, it will be March and it will feel like spring is right around the corner.

Of course, whenever I’m planning for a trip, I go a little bonkers on preparing my closet. I’m especially excited about the pieces I’ve been picking up. They range from the super affordable (this Amazon one-piece is under $30!) to a little bit luxury (via eBay of course).

In case you haven’t heard, Jacey Duprie from Damsel in Dior launched an amazing collaboration with Summersalt to create some lovely beachy pieces just in time for our trip. (Totally not a coincidence, I’m sure.) This silky shirtdress cover-up and a pair of polka dot palazzo pants (not pictured) were in my shopping cart on launch day. Good thing too. Most of the items unsurprisingly sold out. But Ms. Duprie has indicated that restocks are coming, so if you like what you see, get on the wait list! Sizes range from XS-2X.

I feel nearly prepared to head south. Just a few more things and I’ll be set. In the meantime, I’m enjoying the brief moments when I get to imagine I’m already there, barefoot and covered in sand, each time I try on something new.
