Mondays After Vacation
Are Struggle Central
This is the part where I talk about how #blessed I am to be able to go on vacation. To vacation in my own place near a lake. And yeah. I am so very thankful for it all.
But let’s be real. Getting back into your home routine after any vacation is a struggle. I have not even looked at my suitcase and it definitely needs to be unpacked and laundered. I have a laundry basket (two laundry baskets?) that I had ignored before vacation because I had serious resfeber and wanted to save it until I got back.
Now I’m back. And that laundry is giving me the hairy eyeball.
Getting out of the door this morning was difficult, despite the fact that I got up at 5:30. How is it possible that I couldn’t get my ass in gear by 7:00 as planned?! Then I got to work to discover the refrigerators were cleaned out and three tubs of my dessert hummus that I had left before vacation were THROWN AWAY.
F@$#.
Okay, it wasn’t a total bust.
I had my performance review today and it went great. We did the review over lunch so I got to stuff my face full of Mad Mex tacos (vacation detox started after dinner I guess?). Work wasn’t crushing. In fact, it felt like any other day. And I was able to get back to a yoga class after three weeks of a forced hiatus, thanks to surgery. Yep, that badass bandage on my arm you see there was courtesy of a ganglion cyst but I get those stitches out tomorrow.
Yet another positive feather in my cap.
Coming back from vacation sucks. But all things considered, it really was a good day.
On our last day north, Stella said she wished we could stay permanently. I get it. And I kind of wanted to stay too. But I explained to her that the reason it was so fun to visit the lake was because it was a break from our regular life. Having a home routine makes leaving for #DoubleVisionCottage way sweeter. We can’t wait to get back up there in a couple of weeks. I’ll take all of the Sunday Sads if it means I get to spend time with my loves away in our little place.
God, I love this dress. It’s so different for me. A huge punch of color. And it’s incredibly comfortable. Alexander Wang is so good at what he does.
