:polished casual:

today i went to lunch with one of my favorite people. afterward, we took a drive over to lawrenceville to do a little shopping. her mission was to find casual tops that didn’t make her feel sloppy.

“have you ever been to No. 14 Boutique,” i asked her.

“no,” she said. “tell me about it.”

i described it as ultra femme and pretty. she had heard enough. we marched straight into the shop, a flurry of ruffles and knits ensued and we both walked out with two new tops. i followed her polished casual lead and found this truly fantastic J.O.A. sweatshirt. i mean, if you’re going to wear a sweatshirt, make it interesting, am i right? i cannot even handle how precious these sleeves are with the silver buttons down the seam and the ties on the cuff keeping the bell shape in proper order.

this top with the shorts is kind of a saturday-night-fire-when-it’s-nearly-90-during-the-day outfit. but i will definitely wear this with a pair of dark skinny jeans and boots to my causal office. it’s usually only 55 degrees there anyway.

what’s your favorite polished casual piece?
