Try Something Different

Black is my life. But that hasn't always been the case. There was a period of time when I wore all of the colors. Sometimes mashed together in the craziest ways. And I was mostly inspired by the ladies of Mad Men and Vargas pinups. My life has changed since then. Where I've worked, what I've needed from my wardrobe, what inspires me. Those things have all shifted and my wardrobe with it.  

That's not to say I don't find other aesthetics pleasing. Like many people, I'm drawn to the social media accounts that have ultra feminine photos, featuring ruffles and various shades of pinks and peonies. Always with the peonies. These things are all lovely and from time to time, I want to try them out. 

This particular dress was featured on No. 14's Instagram stories. It was simple and pretty and highlighted the print of the season (hi, gingham). The price was really good and so without much thought, I made the purchase. 

I like the dress. But I think it's meant for another woman. Taller? Thinner? Tanner? I don't know what it is that makes this dress for someone else but I just know it's not totally me. It's a great dress for summer in the office and I will continue to wear it on those days when I want to be a little like Dorothy Gale or those hyper pretty IG stars. But I have a feeling after this season, this dress will be on its way to an owner that will love it the way it deserves.
